The Great Pilgrimage

Image
Olá everyone! Tudo jóia? This past week was absolutely awesome. Our friend, Morgan, was finally baptized this week!!! It was incredible. I was honored to be the one who baptized him, and it was so insanely awesome to see his excitement the whole time. He has been wanting to be baptized for almost 3 transfers now. He just had to get over smoking, which he did! He has already been an amazing member on the inside from the start. Right after the baptism, Morgan disappeared for a bit, and we found him mopping up and cleaning the whole entire baptismal font without anyone ever telling him to. He's just the coolest guy ever.  Not a ton of stuff happened the rest of the week. We prepared for Morgan's baptism and stuff, but otherwise, it was pretty vanilla I terms of missionary work. But this next week will be an important one here in Portugal. The Pope is coming to town, so the entire city has been preparing for that. And we are being flooded by pilgrims from all over the world. It is ...

In A Barbie World

Olá everyone!  Sorry, this one might be a shorter one, I don't have much time to write. The past week was pretty good. Our friend Morgan has stopped smoking and will be baptized this Saturday, which is awesome because we’ve been helping him with this for a couple of months now. So we're super excited about that! I also turned 21 this last Friday, which is cool, I guess. Don't know how I feel about it yet, haha. But it was a good day. We got to go out and eat lunch with our branch president and get cake, which was fun. We had zone conference too, which was awesome. It's always awesome to see the other missionaries and hear from President and Sister Barcellos. They're both absolute machines.  For p-day today, we cleaned the apartment pretty well and then went to the Colombo mall again. I was going to buy some new shoes, but apparently my shoe size doesn't even exist anywhere here in Portugal, so that stinks. Since there was a movie theater there, almost everyone w...

We Finally Went

Olá everyone! Hope you all are doing well. The past week and a half were pretty good. We were able to set a date for baptism for 4 of our friends, which is awesome. They are all the best. I'm particularly excited for Ana and Morgan, whom I'm sure I've mentioned before. We have been working with them for about 3 transfers now, and they absorb all the information like sponges. It's cool to see the desire to learn and progress inside them burn like a wildfire. We've already taught through each lesson twice, and we also share a ton of spiritual messages with them. They are both so close to quitting cigarettes, so they should be getting baptized here in a couple weeks. Also, Morgan's 29th birthday was last week, and they had us over for a big lunch. They're awesome. Otherwise, the work is going just fine. NIt's nottoo much exciting, especially since it's tourist season here. It's cool to see people from everywhere, especially the occasional LDS family...

Plot Twist

Olá a gente! Sorry I missed last week's email. Again. Sometimes, it just goes right over my head if I'm too tired. It was a good week, although you guys didn't miss much. It was a pretty vanilla week, other than Saturday. On Saturday, we were able to bring two of our recent converts to the temple! It was awesome to be able to finally see them be able to go. I was able to help them both do baptisms, although it was cut short when I came out of the water and a bloody nose started. So that's a first for me. Afterward, we went to go eat with them. One of them, Benvinda, had to move back to Angola, which stinks, but we're glad we were able to bring her before she left on Sunday.  For pday, we got permission from president to go paintballing, which was awesome. But, unfortunately, we weren't able to go because we had to do a down-payment to reserve a spot, but we don't have the method of payment they accept. So, instead, we did the next best thing. Laser tag. It w...
