Aurora Borealis

Olá everyone!


Sorry for not writing last week. Totally flew over my head. It almost did this time too, so I won't have a lot of time to write, unfortunately. But it has been a good past few weeks! We are slowly but surely building everything up here in Espinho. Finding more friends and getting a better feel for the place. We're gonna be starting English classes here in a bit, so that will be fun.


Last week's pday was a fun one. We went to this bookstore, Livraria Lello, which is apparently the prettiest bookstore in the world. I think I've talked about it before, but if I'm not mistaken, it is the bookstore that inspired lots of the architecture in the Harry Potter books and movies. It was super cool inside, and they had a lot of cool books redone in special Livraria Lello editions. I ended up getting The Little Prince in portuguese, and it's really cool. The staircase in the middle was really cool, and they had some crazy stained glass artwork and intricate carvings and stuff in the walls. Super cool place. 


On Wednesday, we had interviews with President. They all went well, and afterward, he brought us to a really nice pizza place to eat. It was delicious. It's always fun to go eat with him. 


Friday, we had zone conference, so we got to listen to a lot of good talks and trainings. Got to catch up with a few missionaries I haven't seen in a while as well. Every transfer, we can ask for materials for the house or missionary work. We asked for a few things since we are a brand new area with a new house. I asked for a big pan since ours doesn't work on our induction stove. I mixed up the word for pan and pot on the form (panela=pot), and they got us an unbelievably huge pot. Like 5-6 gallons big. So that was kinda funny, although we don't have the pan we need, haha. 


It was really rainy today, so we all met up together at a chapel and played some card games and stuff. I found out I am absolutely atrocious at skip-bo, but at least I'm still decent at SkyJo.

Ola everyone! This is my last full week at the MTC before I (hopefully) leave for Portugal! It has been really fun so far. Volleyball, basketball, and four square have now become an essential part of our whole district’s daily routine, and it’s the best part of the day. It's fun meeting and talking with all the new sets of missionaries that trickle in every week that go to the gym, and getting to know them and their missions. It's cool seeing so many people speaking so many different languages. I've gotten to hear people speak Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Norwegian, Finnish, Polish, Icelandic, Swedish, and German. I've always been fascinated with language, so it's been fun hearing all that. Since the fall BYU semester started, this last week was all of our language teachers’ last week teaching before they had to start school. It was a little tough to see them go. Deadly Potatoes

Olá! I am once again asking for your forgiveness for skipping a week. It has been getting a lot harder for me to work up the will to write an email every week. But honestly, not a whole ton of new stuff has happened. I'll give some of the highlights, though.  About a week ago, we got together as a district to do whiteboard finding in Espinho, where we get a whiteboard, write a question on it, and ask people to answer iI. It went well for about 5 minutes until it started raining. Then we just talked to people underneath awnings and anywhere with cover. Once it stopped, we went to walk along the beachfront with the whiteboard and found this guy that sang songs really well. He put on a concert for us, and it was awesome. He was belting it out and was really good. So that was pretty fun.  Last week for pday, we met as a zone and played a bunch of games and challenges at the church. It was pretty fun. My team was destroying the competition but got brought down right at the end....

Lapa Family Reunion

Olá todos! Everything is going good here in Lapa. The missionary work is still going great. We've been able to find and teach quite a few people, which is awesome. We are going to have a baptism this Saturday too, so that will be super cool.  Last pday, we decided to go walk around Lisbon a bit. We went and got pastéis de belem, and ate at a few other little eateries. There was this place that made these pork sandwiches from a whole roasted pig. It looked really good, so we all got one. It was really good. Later this last weekend, we had a couple member meals. At the lunch, a guy came and joined us, and he turned out to be an RM that served here in the Lapa area a few years ago. He is from Bolivia originally, but just moved here to Portugal. He was super cool and fun to get to know. Then later for dinner, 3 others joined us, who also were RMs who served here in Lapa.
