Olá todos!
So this past week was a curveball I was not expecting in the slightest. We had a pretty normal week up until Wednesday. We receive transfer news on Wednesdays, and so we all decided to go to a really good BBQ place to open them all together. I was expecting to end the mission in Mem Martins, so I wasn't too concerned about it until I heard that I was being transferred and going to open an area. So that was a big surprise to me. I was pretty disappointed because I had just gotten used to the area, got to know the members, and we had some good friends who were progressing well.
So now I am here in a little coastal town called Espinho. It is actually the coolest town that I have ever served in. Let me tell you a little bit about it. So it is a big surfing town, so there is a big surf culture here. Big beaches, long boardwalks, and a bunch of cool stuff like that. It's got pretty much everything you need, too. We have one of each of the major grocery stores, so we'll have a variety of stuff. It's got the oldest golf course/club in the Iberian peninsula, so pdays will be fun at the driving range, haha. It's laid out in a grid, and the streets are numbered (St. 1, St. 2, etc.), and so it'll be really easy to navigate and find friends and members. The best part is that our house and everything in it is brand new, and it is about 15 seconds from the beach. I'll just say it's been awesome to watch the sunsets and listen to the waves at night. There's also a train that goes right up to Porto, so we're not totally disconnected.
If you can't tell, I'm really excited to be serving here for the rest of my mission, and I'm pumped to be able to start the missionary work in Espinho for the first time. I'll keep you guys updated on all the things that happen.
For pday today, we actually went up to Porto to walk around. It's a really cool city, and the architecture is amazing. We went to probably the fanciest McDonald's the world has to offer. I think there is no other like it. I'll attach pictures, but it's got chandeliers, glass mosaics inside, and a bunch of other crazy stuff. And on the front, it's got a big eagle with "Imperial McDonald's" on the front, which makes the whole thing that much cooler. We had to get me a public transport pass, which took a while, but I've got one now. They totally messed the picture up, and it's blurry, but honestly, it is so much better that way. Wouldn't ask for it any other way.
That's about it for this week. I hope you guys are doing well!
