Homies With The Witnesses

Olá!


The past week was definitely a memorable one. Lots of it was just the good old missionary work stuff. We had a division with the ZL's on Wednesday, which went well. It was pretty fun. We are also finally starting up English classes after not being able to for a few months. So those are really fun!


Thursday was almost just a straight meme the whole time. Especially near the end of the day. But in the afternoon, we stopped by a basket/weaved goods store, and the owner just gave me an awesome straw sombrero. She's the best. It was fun to carry that thing around the rest of the day.


This is where it got crazy. So we figured out that the Jehovah's Witnesses have meetings every Thursday at night. So my comp and I decided it would be fun to go test our luck and see if we could survive in a Kindom Hall as missionaries. 


So we walked over, and we entered the building. They were all actually super, super nice, which was awesome. Turns out we talked to a few of them on the street a few times in the past, so they were really excited to see us there. They gave us one of their bibles, too, which was cool. The meeting was interesting. It was actually my first time going to another church for one of their meetings. So it was definitely different for me. The hymns were kinda interesting, but fun, I guess. Overall, it was kind of fun to see how a different church functions. Afterward, we got to talk with one of their American members. He was super cool. 


The experience wasn't fruitless, though. Lots of them wanted to start teaching us. We actually ended up getting 3 of their numbers, and we are actually teaching one of them now. Oh, how the turn tables, hehe. Now, whenever we see them around town, they always wave and say hi to us. 


We had zone p-day today. We traveled down to Gaia and just hung out at the chapel, played soccer, ping pong, volleyball, Uno, etc. It was good to see all of the other missionaries.

The Office

Olá todos!! Hope you all had a great week. This last Friday was transfers, and with 4 whole transfers, or 6 months in Lapa, it was almost a 100% guarantee that I would be leaving. And if you couldn't guess from the spoiler in the title, I have been transfered to the mission office doing social media/technology! It's awesome because we basically make all the videos and content for the whole mission, and I love this stuff so it will be a great time here. We also get to travel all around Portugal, so I will have a chance to see the whole country.  Anyways, my last week in Lapa was awesome. We had one last district council, which was awesome. I made garlic knots for the district, and then we also went and ate burritos. Burritos are always one of the best parts of the week. We also had a few last meals with members, which were all awesome. Four Languages

Olá gente! This last week was a good one. We were able to put two of our friends on date for baptism! They're awesome, and we love teaching them.  Last week, we found a new friend from the Congo. At first, she just wanted to do a Bible study with us in Portuguese, because she wants to learn portuguese. Then after a bit, she started asking questions about missionaries, the church, and other things. She spoke English with us, but she's a native French speaker. So her Bible was French, which she read with us, but she somehow had a Spanish Book of Mormon. So we spoke English, read Spanish and French scriptures, and spoke some Portuguese. It was a very fun and interesting lesson. On Saturday, we were able to have a branch Christmas dinner. It turned out great, and we all had a great time.
