Castelo Antigo
Olá everyone!
We had a pretty good last week and a half. The time between Christmas and new years was a bit slow, because lots of people were out of town, or celebrating with family. But we were able to get stuff done, so that was good.
New years eve was fun for us too. The fireworks going crazy all over, and people screaming out their doors and windows in Portuguese was a fun thing to see.
One of the things we do as missionaries here is teach English classes to whoever is interested. We posted a flyer in a local group, and we had tons of people come this week as well as last week. We were able to have 10 new friends to teach, and it's a blast. Teaching English is interesting too. It makes me realize how crazy parts of it are.
This p-day, we were able to go through the temple and do some ordinances. As always, the temple trips during the transfer are the best. The Spirit is always strong there. After we were all done, we headed to a mall in Lisbon, and we hung out there for a while. We got some food, looked around some cool stores, and we headed to the Castelo de S. Jorge. Having never been in a castle before, being able to walk through one was really cool. It was on to of a tall hill too, so we had the best view of the Tagus river, and almost all of Lisbon. Apparently the top of the hill where the castle is, has been inhabited since the 7th century BC, so there were lots of cool artifacts to see. There were also lots of cool holds and keeps we were able to go into.
Spiritual thought: 2 Nephi 31: 20
Wherefore, ye must press forward with a steadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of hope, and a love of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and endure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eternal life.
I love this scripture, because it tells us that as we persevere in our lives, have hope, and feast upon the words of Christ, we will be greatly blessed in our lives. Theres one part that really sticks out to me. "[Have] a love of God and of all men." Jesus Christ was the greatest example for all of mankind. He was always serving others, no matter what, and had unconditional love for everyone. I know that if we love and serve those around us, we will be showered with blessings. I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
Até lá!
