Praise To The Man
Óla everyone!
This email will be a shorter one, there wasn’t tons of stuff that happened. We did play lots of volleyball and basketball this last week, which was super fun. There are lots of talented people here, so it’s fun to see them get some good volleys going. It was also a bit rainy this past week, and we even had an awesome thunderstorm one day which was fun to watch. Before the storm, the sky turned super orange which was pretty interesting.
We were given the opportunity last Wednesday to welcome the new set of missionaries coming into the MTC and get them settled into their dorms. It was really fun being able to see and talk to people from all around the USA, going to serve all around the world.
Portuguese is going pretty well, but I’ve hit a little bit of a wall in the past couple of classes. Past tense conjugations in Portuguese are a little tough. The learning is picking back up though, so I’m looking forward to the progress I’ll make this week.
Every Sunday and Tuesday, there’s a choir practice anyone can come to, and some of the others in my district convinced all of us to come, and it’s really fun. Lots of singing, but the director also teaches us lots of cool scripture and church history things as well, which is awesome. This week we are practicing "Praise to the Man," to sing on Tuesday's devotional, which is one of my favorite hymns.
This week we had the chance to study ways Heavenly Father shows His love for us. We were asked to read some scriptures and watch a couple of videos, and afterward, as a writing activity, we were asked to write about and ponder all the things and ways we’ve seen God bless our lives. I started my entry for the prompt, and as I kept listing things off, more and more things came to mind. It was a great opportunity for me to reflect on my life, and count all the blessings I’ve been given. It has made me a lot more appreciative and thankful for all that I have in my life. It was a great opportunity to take my mind off of all the stressful things in my life. So, I invite everyone to do the same. Make a list or think of all the people in your life who have blessed you, all the opportunities you've been given, and any other blessings you’ve seen in your life, and I know that you will find comfort in those things and grow to appreciate them a lot more.
