Third Time's The Charm

Image
Olá todos! Como vão? The past week has been a bit of a crazy one. We had transfers, but they were delayed until Friday because of some timing with the MTC. So we had a few extra days to fo a few extra things before one of us 3 left. We all thought it was going to be me, but it turns out I will be staying one more transfer in Lisbon! So we'll go back to just two elders. It will be really awesome to be able to see a few of our friends be baptized! Other than transfers, not much really happened. Just your average missionary week. Lots of calls, lots of lessons, and lots of walking. A few times we did see some members from the states walking around Lisbon. We even had some swiss members find us. They were all really fun to talk to.  On Sundays, we always go and eat with our branch president at his house. This time we had John, that old British guy come and eat with us. He always has the best stories and is really funny. It's like listening to David Attenborough for a whole hour in ...

Vote For Pedro

Olá todos!  Hope you all are doing well. Everything is going great here in Lisbon. Not a ton of stuff happened this last week. There were a few awesome parts though. One of our amigos, Pedro, accepted a baptismal date, which is super cool! He is progressing like a beast and loves reading the scriptures. He always marks a ton of stuff and has about 20 bookmarks in the Book of Mormon. Last Thursday, we taught him the word of wisdom, and he really liked it. Coffee is the only thing he said he needed to work on, but he was so determined to give it up. In fact, on Sunday, he came to church and was excited to tell us he hasn't even touched it since that lesson. He is awesome. We also have a new amiga that we are teaching every Sunday during the 2nd hour. She is from Nepal and grew up Buddhist, and doesn't speak portuguese at all, so we teach her in English. She is super nice and also enjoys being taught. It is actually super weird to teach in English, which is strange since it should...

Idaho State & BYU In Lisbon?

Image
Olá everyone!  This last week wasn't super exciting in terms of new stuff. It was pretty vanilla, but it was still good! We continued to have lessons with all of our amigos, and they're all awesome. We teach one of our amigos, Pedro, in him and his fathers restaurant. It's a cool little diner, and they always give us bifanas to eat, and they are amazing.  We had a group of BYU students doing a study abroad here in Portugal come to church on Sunday. There are a ton of them, so sacrament meetings are gonna be a lot more full for the next couple of months. So that will be fun to have here in Lisbon.  For pday today, we decided to go to Castelo de São Jorge. It was my third time going, but it was still fun to visit. There were a TON of peacocks there this time. They also have a big camera obscura in one of the castle towers that we got to go see. There was a periscope that looked around Lisbon and projected the image onto a huge white disc inside. It was pretty cool to watch....

Potato Boy

Olá todos, tudo jóia? Sorry for another long wait. I've decided if I have a temple pday, I'll just space those two emails out by a week and a half so that I don't have to write two within days of each other.  Anyway, the last week and a half were awesome! Last week, we were able to go get lunch with our branch president's friend, John, and he is probably one of my favorite people I've met on the mission so far. Maybe I mentioned him in a past email, but he is this old catholic British guy who loves to bring the missionaries out to eat every transfer. He has one of the strongest accents I've heard, so every joke he tells us is even funnier. He's given me the name "Potato Boy" since I'm from Idaho. This time for lunch, he brought us to a place called Fogo do Chão, which is basically Tucanos but smaller. It was super good. We convinced him to let us take a picture with him too which is cool cause he hates photos, haha. Last week we also put some o...
